My First Alpha Sleuth®

Yesterday my mom gave me a folder of 3rd Grade school work she'd saved all these years.  She had no idea what was in the folder, of course.  Among the many interesting tidbits, we were surprised to find my first Alpha Sleuth® puzzles!
 
This one is a 'standard' puzzle.  I was much more lenient back then, allowing formal names and punctuation in the grid:
 
 
Having exhausted my vocabulary, I soon turned to "theme puzzles" like this one:
 
 
And being a slow learner, it took another 37 years to invent the letter-set and phrase.  :-)
